Going to buy my four year old son a cat today after making him wait two years making sure he was rea

so now that we are ready and have everything from food to playhouse does it make a difference if it's a male or female and why...and is it true that the male cat don't go into heat??

Going to buy my four year old son a cat today after making him wait two years making sure he was ready..?say yes

it doesn't really make a difference with what gender you get, but i have always prefered female cats because they're less likely to get urinary tract infections and other problems like that than males are.

male cats do not go into heat, but they will mark their territory more. you can avoid that by getting him neutered, or get a girl spayed and she'll be fine too.

really just go wherever you plan to get the cat and let your son play with a few for a while so he can pick one that is just as playful or as cuddly as he wants.

male cats do not go into heat. my femal and male cats are both wonderful! it more depends on the cat then the sex.
Yes it's true that male cats do not go into heat. They do spray to mark their territory and that can get ugly. They will also try to get outside allot. I highly recommend that you have (whatever you choose) spayed or neutered.
I think is ready. Thats depend of his maturity , and the way you bring the subjed , looks like it youre people are ready for that lucky cat. Is better if is male and that not true that the males dont go into heat the best way is neuterize him when you vet say is the best time .
I have both girl cat and boy cats and really there personality just depends on them. Make sure you get the cat spayed or neutered and if you go to the humane society it will already be done
A cat is a wonderful pet for a child. Males tend to spray to mark their territory when mature and females are said to end up with a better over all disposition only after having at least one litter. Whichever you decide on I beg you to rescue a cat or kitten from the pound rather than buy one from a store.
Please don't buy a cat - adopt one from your local shelter. They will either neuter it for you or give you a certificate to get it neutered at low cost.

Enjoy your new kitty!
Only females go into heat. Your vet will advise you on everything you need to know. Make sure you spay or neuter your kitten when the time is right and never let the cat outdoors.
true... male cats don't go in heat but at about 6 months old they spray on EVERYTHING!!!!! they need to be neutered and sometimes they still spray and if you have ever smelled cat spray it doesn't come out. get a female and have he spayed, or better yet go to the pound get one that is already spayed.
